Senior Ball

I went, I saw, I left. That pretty much describes my experience at Senior Ball. Basically it was just a bunch of my classmates standing around dancing, drinking, and talking. I can't believe I paid $30 for that (on top of the $120 tuxedo rental). Perhaps I am an anomaly in my generation: drinking (you'll recall my last experience with a drunk) and clubbing simply don't appeal to me. I would much rather sit around and play a video game or watch a movie.

IronNerd II

I am back in my dorm room recovering after completing the IronNerd for a second consecutive year. The event was similar to last year; although, my performance was a bit worse: I was nearly 2 minutes slower this year than last. To be fair, it was much colder and raining this year, while last year the weather was a bit more favorable. Either way I had a great time.

Here are my results for both years:

Greetings from the Flight Deck

I am back in Boston, after spending a week in Dallas. It was great to be back home and see all of my family and friends (I made a funny.).

Here are some intercom quotes during my travels.

Pilot, while taxiing from gate:

Folks, we have short flight from Philadelphia to Boston. If you're a crack addict, it'll be a short 45 minutes until your next fix.

Flight attendant, during safety briefing:

In the event of a water landing, don't panic. Crying like a baby will not fix the plane.

Seafood then See Food

HPIM2033

I have decided to go out at least once a month to events and attractions in Boston. Normally I spend my weekends watching movies, but I decided that I need to get out and do something so I canceled my Blockbuster Total Access plan. Last week I went to a Celtics game with my friend Diana (who is also from Dallas). Today I made my first visit to the New England Aquarium, but before going there we decided to eat some of seafood at Legal Sea Foods (hence the corny title of this entry). Among other creatures I saw piranha, electric eels, a goliath grouper, and turtles.

I had a great time and even learned a bit. To see my pictures, click the photo above. There is also a video: Seals at the New England Aquarium.

Another first for me came last week when I learned how to juggle! Unfortunately, I have no pictures (or video), but I can give you all a live demonstration of my (lack of) ability when I return to Dallas for spring break in a couple of weeks. While juggling I also got a crazy idea for a poster for our Senior Gift campaign. Did I mention that I sit on the Senior Gift Committee? The results can be seen in the linked photoset below. This week my crazy idea is a musical, but more on that later.

A Spin and a Slide

I had to pickup food for a BSU meeting so I rented a car from Zipcar. I drove a Cooper MINI and I must say that is a cool car. As its name implies it's a small car, but what it lacks in physical size it makes up for in sheer fun and acceleration. By the way, BMW, makers of my wonderful 325, make the MINI. Long story short (or in this case just short story): Go take a spin in a MINI.

Superbowl Flight

I was scheduled to leave Dallas at 8:35; however, someone must have complained to the right people because we didn't take off until 9:30, after the Superbowl. Speaking of which, the Giants beat the Patriots! The saddest sight I have ever seen is the group of folks boarding my flight back to Boston. Although, the funniest sight I've seen were the one or two folks smirking because they were rooting for the Giants. It's as if the Giants fans were feeding off of the sadness of the Patriots fans. Simply sadistic, and hilarious!

Guns and Stars

I mentioned in a previous post that there were two parties to celebrate the beginning of the medical camp. There were problems with transportation after the second party. Originally, most of the volunteers had ridden together on the hospital’s bus; however, sometime during the party the bus returned to the hospital. So when the volunteers were ready to call it a night we had no ride. We waited for about 45 minutes and still no bus. Eventually the consul general and a few of the other VIPs were leaving, so we all ended up carpooling.

Back from India

Visiting India was a great experience. Not only did I get to contribute to a great project, but I met some great people and saw some great sights. I had planned to make multiple blog updates throughout my stay, but I did not have Internet access. So I will try to condense everything to a single entry. I’ll just start from the beginning.
