CLinton,
You are becoming more of a man, a Black man, in a sometimes prejudiced world. I experienced a similar encounter while living in Austin pursuing my doctorate.

A young White mother with her young daughter in the basket seat at the grocery store approached me while going in the oposite direction of the isle. I was looking at the prices on the food items I was interested buying. The daughter looked at me, waved, and cheerfully saying hello. The young mother quickly turned the daughter away from my direction, and quickly left the area. I felt offended.

I was an intelligent, successful, young(relatively at 40), Black man who felt the stigma of being Black in a very diverse population of Austin Texas. This experience has stayed with me. I hope your experiences will stay with you. Not for bitterness, but, to emphasize that Dr. Martin Luther King's dream has not completely come to reality.

Always be aware of your surroundings. Enjoy the positive sights, while improving on the negatives. Change the world, one day at a time; one person at a time.
